At Jamiah Islamiyyah Florida, our faculty is comprised of hardworking and dedicated educators who strive to serve the Ummah with sincerity and excellence. With a commitment to nurturing both spiritual and academic growth, our teachers place the success and well-being of their students at the heart of their mission. Currently, the faculty is focused on expanding and strengthening the Hifz Department, guiding students through the Full-Time Hifz Program while also ensuring their academic progress by managing their secular studies through Florida Virtual School. This balanced approach reflects their vision of producing well-rounded individuals who embody both traditional Islamic scholarship and academic excellence.

Shaykh Mahmood Elahee

Shaykh Mahmood Elahee began his journey of memorizing the Qur’an at a young age. After completing his Hifz, he pursued his high school education while simultaneously embarking on the path of Islamic scholarship through the ʿĀlimiyyah program with local scholars in South Florida. His pursuit of knowledge then took him to Chicago and finally Bangladesh, where he successfully graduated and completed the ʿĀlim course.

Shaykh Mahmood holds numerous ijāzāt from scholars around the world. He is currently specializing in Tajwīd and Qirāʾāt under the guidance of expert Qurraʾ, while also advancing his studies in Iftāʾ. At present, he is serving at Jamiah Islamiyyah Florida (Jacksonville) as a Hifz teacher and also contributes to the Maktab program, dedicating his efforts to nurturing the next generation of students in both Qur’anic memorization and foundational Islamic education.

Shaykh Abdullah Syed

Shaykh Abdullah Syeed, a native of the Jacksonville community, began his journey of Islamic scholarship at Darul Uloom New York in the ʿĀlimiyyah program. His pursuit of knowledge later led him to the prestigious Darul Uloom Nadwatul Ulama in Lucknow, India, where he successfully completed the ʿĀlim course.

Since then, Shaykh Abdullah has devoted himself to serving communities across the nation, from New York City to Florida, teaching the Qur’an and guiding the youth with dedication. Having returned to his hometown of Jacksonville, he continues to play an integral role in nurturing the next generation and serving the community.

Currently, Shaykh Abdullah serves in the Hifz Department at Jamiah Islamiyyah Florida and also leads the Academic Program, ensuring that students excel in both their Qur’anic memorization and their secular studies.

Founder

Shaykh Muhammad Moaz Hossain

Shaykh Moaz completed his Hifz at a young age and went on to pursue higher Islamic studies. He graduated from Darul Uloom New York in 2021 with the completion of the ʿĀlimiyyah program. In addition to his traditional studies, he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Islamic Sciences and Arabic from Al-Azhar University, followed by a Master’s degree in Islamic Studies from Bangladesh. He is currently advancing his academic journey by pursuing a Ph.D.

In 2021, Shaykh Moaz founded Jamiah Islamiyyah Florida, where he continues to serve as the Administrator, overseeing the institution’s growth and vision while remaining dedicated to providing quality Islamic and academic education for the community.
